Objectives of the Course
The main aim of the course is as follows; to convey a professional consciousness to the students on hazardous waste, to teach management tools and treatment techniques for the hazardous wastes, to teach remediation approaches for the contaminated sites and groundwater and finally to provide knowledge on national and international legislation.

Course Contents
Definition of hazardous wastes, types, sources and properties of of hazardous wastes, behaviour of hazardous chemicals in the environment (eco-toxicology, transport, transformation and accumulation), prevention of hazardous waste generation, recovery and recycling techniques, disposal techniques of hazardous wastes, use of biotechnology in the remediation of hazardous wastes, risk management, remediation of contaminated sites and groundwater, national and international legislations.
