Objectives of the Course
The aim of this course is to ensure the students to know food packaging materials, to learn positive and negative aspects of these materials, to have knowledge about intelligent packages, nanopackages, aseptic packages, modified atmosphere packaging.

History of packaging, properties desired from packages, relations between protective functions of packages and food degradation, innovations in packaging sector, glass packages, paper, paperboard and corrugated board packages, wooden packages, aluminum packages, tin packages, plastics and plastic-based packaging materials, suggestions about packaging of some foods, package and health, significance of package design, bar code system, benefits of recovery of package wastes.
